FAQ

What is a blob?

Blobs are an alien species somewhat similar to humans. Like humans, they have two arms, two legs, and one head. The main difference is that they only have one eye. It is larger than the human eye, and lies in the center of a blob's face. Blobs also have spikes on top of their heads instead of hair. A blob usually has between three and eight spikes, though some are known to have as many as thirteen spikes.

The number and shape of spikes alone can help someone tell the difference between two blobs. What makes spikes important is that spikes can show the physical state a blob is in. For example, if a blob is healthy, it has all its spikes. If sick, the spikes may start to warp or droop. If injured, a blob's spikes can fall off (spikes can eventually regrow). If a blob has no spikes left, he or she dies. So, looking at the number of spikes a blob has can let someone know how well or how badly a blob is doing in battle, etc.

The only other difference between blobs and humans is that blobs have slightly different interior anatomy. Blobs have two brains: one in the head and the other in one of their feet. A blob's heart is located in its other foot.

Blobs originated far outside this solar system, but came to this one a few thousand years ago. Blob legends say the planet they came from was called Blint. When the blobs came to this solar system, they discovered large planets that the local human race had not yet discovered (and still haven't). Most of them settled on a large planet close to the sun they named Blitzerblob, where most still live today.

What is the B-Team?

The B-Team is the main law enforcement program on Blitzerblob, and its influence extends throughout the solar system. The members of the B-Team usually have special powers, and use them to enforce laws and dispense justice wherever they go. Their main base is a castle-like structure at the base of Nasal Mountain, on Blitzerblob. The base is so large it is visible from space, its position on the planet makes it look like a nostril of Blitzerblob's face.

The original B-Team base was just a small two-story building with some satellite dishes on top, and the team numbers written on large pieces of paper and taped to the side of the building (the B-Team did not have much money at the time). The B-Team soon outgrew the building, and purchased the large castle fortress they use today in early 2006. The original building is now used as a command center for the Solar System Defense Agency.

The B-Team is divided into about a dozen smaller teams, labeled B-1, B-2, etc. Each of these smaller teams has its own leader, but the whole organization is led by Blubberman, leader of B-1.

The B-Team uses not only its members powers to do its job, but also utilizes the latest technology. The B-Team uses small spaceships big enough to hold a single B-Team, and there is one such ship for each team (minus the ones that have been destroyed). The B-Team also uses two larger ships. One is a heavily armed team transport, easily recognized by its sleek black shape and many windows. The other large ship is a military surplus 2Dstikulan aircraft carrier, recognized by its giant yellow smiley face. It is equipped with a full compliment of 2Dstikulan fighter and bomber craft. All B-Team owned craft are stored in a huge underground hangar located below and slightly to the side of the B-Team base.

The B-Team used to use a more triangular ship as its team transport, resembling the smaller single-team craft mentioned earlier. However, over the years is suffered multiple crash landings, countless battle scars, and outdated weapons. This team transport was retired around late 2006 or early 2007 and was replaced with the new sleek black team transport they still use today.

What are batarians?

Batarians are a blob-like species that live in the same solar system as blobs and humans. Batarians are similar to blobs, having one eye and spikes on their heads. However, the main difference is that batarians have battery-shaped bodies. Their heads are also battery-shaped, and float above their bodies suspended by magnetic force. Some batarians are shaped differently than others, based on lineage. The main difference is head shape, being cylindrical or rectangular in shape, like the two main battery shapes. The rectangular head is usually evidence of ancestors from the batarian planet of 12volt, while cylindrical is proof of Ultarian heritage. Pure Ultarian lineage also has the addition of all limbs floating, instead of just their head. All batarians have battery acid for blood.

Some batarians also have special powers, like blobs, though batarian's powers are not as varies as blobs. The most common power for batarians is the ability to shoot a combination of magnetic and electric energy out of their hands. A much more rare power, usually displayed mostly by those of pure Ultarian blood, is the ability to turn their entire body into pure electricity, instantly destroying anything they touch.

Their population is more spread-out than the blob's, as they live on three diferent planets and their three moons. The closest batarian planet to Blitzerblob is Bataria, with its moon Triple-A. The next closest is 12volt, with its moon 6volt, on the outer reaches of the solar system. The last and largest Batarian planet, Ultaria, with its moon Double-A, are on the complete opposite side of the solar system.

There are some batarians within the B-Team, but most batarians who have powers and want to fight crime join the Batarian Army. Batarians have fought many wars in the past, and they have some of the most advanced military knowledge and technology available. The Ultarian Army is one of the most powerful military forces in the solar system, partially due to the fact that they have created a ship-mounted weapon capable of producing small black holes. The largest class of ship at their disposal, the Ultarian Attack Cruiser, is equipped with such a weapon, along with four gun turrets five stories tall each. The Ultarian Attack Cruiser is many times larger than even the largest of Blob-made ships, like the B-Team's troop transport.

Over the years, the different batarian communities have been at peace with each other. Also, Bataria has an alliance with Blitzerblob, though that alliance was almost destroyed in a 2007 comic when an assassination attempt was made against Blitzerblob's king, Bunnyman, by a batarian. The incident was blamed upon the leaders of Bataria, and Blitzerblob police and army forces blockaded the planet, attracting the attention of the Ultarian military, who sent one of their huge Attack Cruisers to support Bataria. War was averted when the real assassin was discovered, and found to have been working independently. Since then, relations between Bataria and Blitzerblob have reverted back to their peaceful state. Their ties have grown even stronger since the beginning of the Vylkri invasion in 2008.
